To Our Wonderful Community,

Black Girl Beach Day Is On Hiatus.

With heartfelt gratitude, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've embarked on since the inception of Black Girl Beach Day in 2017. It has been an extraordinary experience of building, growing, and creating a safe space for Black women and girls to gather, free from worry and filled with joy. This journey has transformed my life in ways I could have never imagined.

However, it is with a heavy heart that I share the news that we will not be hosting Black Girl Beach Day in 2023. Please know that this is not a permanent goodbye, but rather a temporary pause to allow for growth and rejuvenation.

Over the past 6 years, we have established a thriving community with Black Girl Beach Day, and it has been an honor to witness its impact on all those who have participated. Yet, as the founder, I must be honest and acknowledge that I have neglected to prioritize rest and self-care, which are the very foundations on which this event stands. I cannot continue down a path that may lead to burnout.

Taking Breaks Can Lead To Breakthroughs

Building and scaling an event of this magnitude is no small feat, and I have been shouldering numerous responsibilities. To ensure the sustained success of Black Girl Beach Day, I need to take a step back and recalibrate. During this hiatus, my focus will be on laying the groundwork for Black Girl Beach Day 2024 in a more sustainable manner. This means actively seeking financial backing through sponsorships and intentional brand partnerships, as well as assembling a dedicated team to support the event's growth.

As I share this news with all of you, I humbly ask for your support, near and far, as I navigate this period of introspection and growth. Your love, grace, and understanding are invaluable to me. It is never easy to admit feeling overwhelmed, especially when there is a fear of disappointing the very community we serve. But it is through vulnerability and honest communication that we can grow together.

Though we won't be able to gather physically this year, I am actively exploring ways to keep our community connected virtually. Please ensure you're signed up for our newsletter, where I will share updates and opportunities for staying engaged and supporting Black Girl Beach Day during this hiatus.

In the meantime, I would be immensely grateful for your support in our growth journey. Financial contributions would undoubtedly be a tremendous help so I’ve linked a donation link below. I understand that not everyone may be in a position to contribute in that way. Therefore, I would be equally grateful for non-financial means of support.

If you have skills and time to spare, your expertise in the areas of PR, event production, grant writing, pitch preparation, design, email marketing, web design, e-commerce, product development, investor preparation, or legal consultation would be invaluable to us. Your passion and dedication can make a significant difference in propelling our events brand forward and your support, in whatever form it may take, will be cherished and deeply appreciated.

In closing, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the love, support, and unwavering belief in our vision that you have shown throughout the years. Together, we have created something truly special. Let us use this pause as an opportunity for reflection, growth, and reconnection, so that when we return in 2024, Black Girl Beach Day will shine even brighter. Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for your understanding and continued support.

With love, grace, and anticipation for our future reunion,

Germany, Founder of Black Girl Beach Day
